Followup WOs from PMs

From: InComm Solutions Inc. (2016-03-01 23:56)

Hi guys: I have a request to figure out a way whereby a guy can mark
certain items on a PM work plan as needing followup, and then generate (or
have Maximo generate) a work order with just those items (the same work
order for all).

Input and ideas appreciated!

You mean the tasks on the WO itself? Would those tasks then get a boilerplate text saying "Followup"?

Are you looking for individual followups (1:1 tasks) or a new parent followup with those tasks as followup assignments?

Yes, and no ...

Looking for a new parent (single) follow-up work order with the flagged
tasks on it.

So to recap, a PM with one or many tasks to begin. After execution, one or many tasks are flagged as requiring followup. The request is to generate a followup WO with only those tasks requiring followup.

My first thought would be, have a task status synonym for followup (comp or whatever), then duplicate the PM, change the description to prefix "Followup" or maybe some boilerplate, then kill all the non-followup tasks. Set all statuses to 'WAPPR' and you've got your followup.

The only question is how, but this is essentially it? A followup-by-dupe-with-exclusions?

Create a follow-up field on the WO table and make it editable (Yes/No).  When a follow-up WO is needed go through and check the flags on the tasks that you want duplicated on the follow-up WO.Create a follow-up WO and associate it with the parent.  Populate whatever fields are required for the corporation (start dates, failure code, classification, etc.)Create an escalation that runs periodically (every hour or half hour or once a day depending on your business needs).  The escalation can look for any records that have been created in the time period and duplicates the flagged tasks from the parent.  (You will likely need a custom action also.)  Pat Morrow

Yeah, that might work – I can’t think of a great way to do it in real-time, but I’m not sure that’s needed anyway.

Thanks Pat.
