Our supply chain team is looking at centralizing and would like the ability
to create purchase orders at the org level, rather than creating one each
for the different sites (for the same vendor, of course). I know it's
possible to re-categorize an application as Org-wide or Site-wide (in the
past, I've seen SRs changed from Org-wide to Site-wide, for instance), so
theoretically it could be done with the PO app, but, well, .!
To add to that: apparently receiving would still be done at the site .
leading me to the conclusion that even if the PO itself is marked as
Org-wide, the individual lines would have to somehow be marked as
site-specific (maybe not with the actual SITEID field, though).
I suspect that doing it this way would have all kinds of implications I
haven't even thought of yet . it seems a bit chancy (alright, a lot
chancy!).
So: has anyone got Organization-wide centralized purchasing at their
organization, using Maximo to do it? If so, I'd be grateful if you could
share your experiences. Or if you have an idea about the setup strategy
that I haven't thought of, that would be great too.
