PM schedule for a specific day of a week

From: Martin J. Wunder (2012-05-22 17:44)

Hello!

I think this is not possible but here it goes:

I need to schedule a non-sequence PM for the 1st Monday or the 2nd Thursday
or the 3rd Wednesday of every Month. Can this be done in Maximo 7.5?

(Maximo 7.5, WebSphere 7.1, SQL Server 2008 R2, Win Server2008 R2)

Thanks in advance!

Martin

Martin,
No, this cannot currently be done in Maximo 7.5. I opened a Request for Enhancement with IBM support to add this functionality. It is currently classified as an Uncommitted Candidate. You can see my request and vote for it at the following link if this function is important to you: http://www.ibm.com/developerworks/rfe/execute?use_case=viewRfe&CR_ID=11369

Couldn't you just use the Forecast ability and manually "adjust" for the next X # of generations?

Hi,
You could create three PMs each with a monthly frequency.
Then use escalations and actions to adjust the schedfinishdate to the appropriate Monday, Wednesday or Thursday.
You may be able to do it with just one PM but the escalations will be much more complex.

I have a request for enhancement (RFE 11369) in to IBM for this functionality. Vote for this RFE if you would like to see it included in a future release.
It is currently classified as Under Consideration (This request will not be delivered within the release currently under development, but the theme is aligned with our multi-year strategy. IBM is soliciting RFE Community feedback for this request through activities such as voting. IBM will update this request in the future.)
Description: Some of our preventive maintenance is needed on a more specific frequency than provided in the Frequency settings of the PM application. You have daily, weekly, monthly, and annually, but that is not specific enough. Examples: Every year on a certain date or the last Friday of each month.
I am currently going into the PM and making manual adjustments to accommodate our preferred maintenance schedules.

If you are on 7.5, I believe you can accomplish this through PM Forecasting. Set a general frequency, generate a forecast, adjust each forecast date and lock the forecast in place.
