Cost Management is currently being implemented at the Panama Canal (Maximo
7.1 Transportation). It is a site specific structure. A problem we are
having to workaround is the integration with Oracle E Business Suite. OEBS
was implemented first with a single site and when Maximo came along the
decision was to create multiple sites in Maximo. Since some tasks on a
project cross sites there must be a complete parent/child tree at each site
to load the projects and tasks through the integration and to allow a site
to have an upward path through the tree. The choices are to fully replicate
the structure at all sites or carefully ensure that the complete tree
structure is available for tasks used by a site. The number of rows of the
data can become quite large so the initial loading and subsequent management
can be a challenge.
Thanks to all for your responses to this post. I'll continue to watch and see if anyone has any more input.
