Information Message Creation

Hello Maximo User Group,
We are currently running Maximo 7.5.0.5 and trying to utilize the automation scripts to produce an information message when a PO is created from a PR with a priority greater than 0.We are certain it can be done because the same functionality is setup out of the box to inform a user when a work order is created that has an asset with an active warranty against it.
I have tried creating an automation script using an attribute launch point using the following code:
mboServer.getMboSet("PO").getMbo(0)
if PRIORITY>0:
  infogroup = "CL_PRIORITY"
  infokey = "customPRmsg"
It has been suggested I create an error message instead but I get the same results. I have tried creating a variable, and I have tried getMboSet("PR") and I have also and also tried creating a script using an object start point.This seems like it shouldn't be this difficult and maybe I am overthinking the process.Does anyone have any suggestions how to get this to work?

When is the value of PRIORITY getting set?
What are you expecting to get from mboServer.getMboSet("PO").getMbo(0) ? Is
mboServer an MXServer connection? Without restricting the result set this
is pretty much going to just give you a random PO.
Are you trying to display a message if the priority field for the PO has
been set to something greater than zero?

Good morning Chris,
The "mboServer.getMboSet("PO").getMbo(0)" was suggested from another admin, so I tried it. I have also tried just using the "if PRIORITY>0" without any kind of MBO connection and get nothing.
Basically, what the user would like is if a PR has a priority greater than 0 (we have a priority of  0 = routine, 1 = urgent and 2= emergency) and a PO is created from a PR, once it is created they would like a message to appear to show the buyer opening the newly created PO that it is either an urgent or emergency. I have verified that the priority field in the PO module is pulled over from the PR module if the PR was used to create the PO.
The message that we would like to appear is just a simple "This PO has a priority!". I know there are ways to show what priority it is and the value of it, but for now this is good enough just so we can verify the message works.

Let's make sure we're on the same page.... I create two PR's, the first has
priority 0 (zero) and the second priority 1, I save them and they become
PO's.
A buyer views my two PO's (one at a time), for the first you want nothing
special to happen but for the second you want a popup saying "Hey look I'm
urgent" ?

That is exactly right! a PR with a priority of 0 should have no effect and not show a message.

I would suggest you reconsider your approach, on the "display" of a record
I think the only real event that you could tap in to is the init() which
would cause you a bunch of other problems if you tried to display a dialog.
The init() "fires" when the record is initialized, as such it will fire for
every record displayed on the list page when you do a search - basically
you don't want code in there unless you really, really have to.
I think the "Maximo Way" would be to use the conditional UI to provide a
visual indicator of the importance of your higher priority PO, maybe make
the priority field a different color or hide/show a screen component
containing a message saying "I am really, really important" or whatever.
There may be options in extending the java bean for the application or the
init for a field (rather than the mbo) that is on the screen but not on the
list tab but you'd be well advised (IMHO) to utilize what we know "fits"
and adjust you requirement to suit the configuration tools rather than
adding comparatively complex code to get it just the way you envision it.
I'd suggest the "Maximo way" would be conditional UI plus, if it is really
critical, maybe combine with escalations to send email notifications and/or
escalate if the PO isn't handled within your defined timeframe for urgency.

Why not just put some conditional display to change the Priority field to red? You can do that in application designer with no coding.

  I would suggest you reconsider your approach, on the "display" of a record
I think the only real event that you could tap in to is the init() which
would cause you a bunch of other problems if you tried to display a dialog.
The init() "fires" when the record is initialized, as such it will fire for
every record displayed on the list page when you do a search - basically
you don't want code in there unless you really, really have to.
I think the "Maximo Way" would be to use the conditional UI to provide a
visual indicator of the importance of your higher priority PO, maybe make
the priority field a different color or hide/show a screen component
containing a message saying "I am really, really important" or whatever.
There may be options in extending the java bean for the application or the
init for a field (rather than the mbo) that is on the screen but not on the
list tab but you'd be well advised (IMHO) to utilize what we know "fits"
and adjust you requirement to suit the configuration tools rather than
adding comparatively complex code to get it just the way you envision it.
I'd suggest the "Maximo way" would be conditional UI plus, if it is really
critical, maybe combine with escalations to send email notifications and/or
escalate if the PO isn't handled within your defined timeframe for urgency.

Why not just put some conditional display to change the Priority field to red? You can do that in application designer with no coding.

priority 0 (zero) and the second priority 1, I save them and they become
PO's.
A buyer views my two PO's (one at a time), for the first you want nothing
