Re: [MAXIMO List] Re: Maximo-Peoplesoft Integration for Items

From: hiren shah (2016-11-23 17:16)

Thanks for responses..
The reordering is not a problem as it is not done through Maximo anyway.. Inventory management is handled by People Soft.
The problem is items are part of CU library or BOM on the Maximo side and they are deactivated on the people soft side.
If we deactivate these items on Maximo side then later on when the same item is activated in People soft, Maximo will not reactivate the same and will force to create a new item number.
If we set the item to "Pending Obsolete" in Maximo (when deactivated in people soft), Maximo will still allow to plan for this item and eventually the demand will be accepted by People Soft as the same item might be already deactivated in People Soft.
Not sure if the deactivation-reactivation can be done in other ERPs as well or it is just the People soft feature.
If this is possible in other ERPs (SAP, Oracle etc) then I am not sure how it is handled in Maximo as Maximo - SAP or Maximo-Oracle is a very common integration and there must be some way figured out by now !

If PS can activate-deactivate (they do this to
vendors all the time with our integration) then you need to
unlink the status change as you disqualifier.

I can stop an item from being reordered by controlling the
reorder flag, and I can keep it off cycle counts by ditching
its ABC type. That might be sufficient; you may want to
carry the PS flag over to Maximo to indicate your
integration status.

You've described the problem very well, and it's understood, but you can't magically turn a flag into a status in Maximo, especially if the status reaches an end state like 'OBSOLETE'.

You're saying the item will continue to be planned, but that's not entirely out of your control. If you get a deactivation flag from PS, you can deal with this on the Maximo side by capturing that flag state on the item, then unsetting the "reorder" flags on inventory and whatever else you think you need to do (maybe setting the ABC type to null or some not-ABC type). You have a deactivation process to model in Maximo, so model it. I'm sure others have done it but I'm also sure there's no "single correct" way to do it either.

It seems that deactivating items in PS is a little too easy, but, that's what you need to model.
