View item availability

From: amir samir (2011-07-04 06:24)

Dear All ,
in view item availability windows shows the  availability of the items in all storerooms at all sites  and that is violate the security of our organization , how could we limit the availability to those storeroom the user has access to.(ie - user shoud only see the balance in the storerooms @ sites he has access to).
Thanks and Best Regards,

From: Shannon Rotz (2011-07-04 19:53)

It sounds like you want to look in the Security Groups application /
Storerooms tab.

Take the check-mark off "Authorize Group for All Storerooms" and only add
the storerooms that the group should be allowed to see.

Hope this is what you need.

Dear Shannon,
First of all ,thanks for your concern.
I have create a user that only has access to the inventory of one site and i have unchecked authorization to all storeroom and i have check that the user can't even issue items from the storeroom in that site.now when i checked the availability of the items it shows me the balance of the item in all 3 active site.
after some googling I have exported the library.XML and change the mboname of the availability dialog from ITEM to INVENTORY and that worked for me a little but i don know if that might cause error in any other direction.and i hoped that there is a generic way in security application that make it easily.
thanks again

Theoretically, you should be able to use the Conditional Interface to make the availability for other storerooms invisible. But since the View Item Availability stuff is in the library.xml, if it’s possible, you will have to do it by hand (normally you would do this in Application Designer).

Hope this helps.

May you guide me to how to make conditional interface to the Library.XML , also i'm haveing the same problem with item master application - storeroom tab that shows all locations for the items with their stock.
one more thing , why object restriction doesn't work for both scenarios ???

I don’t have any instructions, I’m afraid. As I said, it’s theoretically possible, but I haven’t done it myself and have only a vague idea of how I would go about it. I think you’ll need to experiment to see what works.

I’m not sure why the object restrictions didn’t work.

Amir,
If Shannon is correct in that Conditional Expressions could do it but the obstacle to success is that View Item Availability is in Library.XML, then try copying the View Item Availability dialog portion of library.XML and paste it into the end of every application XML where you want this customization to happen. I mean, if you need to hide your item availabilities in other sites in Inventory, paste it in inventor.xml. If you need your customization to work the same in Item Master, paste it in item.xml; and so on.
When a user calls some action (in this case, View Item Availability), Maximo should look locally, within the application xml, for that action. If it's there, great, it does what's local. If it isn't there, then it goes to find it in the system xml files like library.xml, menus.xml, etc.
So hopefully (and I'm not on version 7 so I've not tried this) if your dialog box is within the app itself, then maybe you can make Conditional Expressions work with it there. Wherever you don't put it, it will continue to call it from library.xml.
The downside is, again, you have to do this for every app where you need your custom functionality (Item Master, Inventory, Tools, Stocked Tools, PO, PR, DR, Quick Reporting, Work Order Tracking, Issues and Transfers, just to name a few. . .). If it even works.
Good luck!

Dear Travis
Many thanks for you , for my problem i have change the mboname of the  dialog from ITEM to INVENTORY and starting changing the relationships of the tabs accordingly. that work fine till now , the thing i can't understand is that now the dialog follows the site accessibility for the user that is only show the data of the site it he has access to , the why that doesn't work in the first place .
thanks again

Isn't Item Master a SYSTEM/ORG level object therefore site permissions do
not apply?
