(I'd try the acverify utility first)
Do you have a backup?

There are a few things you can try.
First you have to find your encyc folder. It is in the path [iServer root]/iServer/encyc, typically on windows C:\Program Files\Actuate\iServer\Encyc, on UNIX [iServer root]/AcServer/encyc.
1) Make sure the Actuate PMD service is stopped. (In Windows in the Services menu - in UNIX go to the AcServer/bin directory and run shutdown_srvr.sh)
2) Rename the encyc folder to encyc2
3) Start the Actuate iServer (Windows: Services menu, UNIX: start_srvr.sh)
4) This will create a blank encyc folder with a new un-corrupted, empty Translog folder in it.
5) Stop the iServer again
6) Rename the encyc folder to encyc-blank
7) Rename the Encyc2 to Encyc and delete the Translog folder
8) Copy the Translog folder from the Encyc-bkup to the Encyc folder
9) Restart the iServer
If this still causes errors, you can try stopping the iserver, deleting the translog altogether and starting the iserver
If this does not work, you can try to repair any corruptions using acverify command line utility. It is in the bin folder.
