Maximo 6.2.5 and Actuate 8 running in Weblogic 9.2

From: Ron Scott (2011-11-30 06:14)

Attempting to deploy and configuration Maximo 6.2.5 along with Actuate 8 against a deployment using weblogic 9.2 as the applications server.  My issue is getting the Actuate Management console to recognize the maxadmin user to allow an import of the actuate encyclopedia.  I've been successful in logging into the management console via the Administrator, but am unable to get it to connect to my instance of maximo via the maxadmin user.  All permissions and all file properties have been tripled checked, but still can't connect.  Additionally, Maximo application is running on a windows 2008 server with a firewall configured.  I believe I have opened all necessary ports for allowing connections between my app server and my report server and database server.

Question is, has anyone been able to successfully establish all connections based on my configuration?

You may want to disable the firewall to see if it is a port issue. If you
can connect with the firewall down, then it is most likely blocking the
communication port(s) between Maximo and Actuate iServer. The default ports
are: 8000 for the iServer, 8100 for the PMD, 8900 for the management console
and 8700 for the iPortal. The ports may be different depending on your
selections during the Maximo/iServer install.

Ron,

Is this a fresh install?
Have you tried the following?
Log into System Administration, under system volumes , system security tab, there is a setting Cache timeout, set it to 1 minute)

- Stop the Actuate Process Management Daemon (PMD)

- Navigate to the C:\Actuate8\iServer\servletcontainer\webapps\acrsse\WEB-INF\lib directory. Move the actuatebo.jar (if it's not there, that's ok) to another folder outside of this directory. (do not simply rename this file).
- Navigate to the MAXIMO\deployment\default folder and open the maximo.ear file with winzip. Locate the businessobjects.jar and extract it to the actuate folder listed above (if a businessobjects.jar exists you should overwrite it)
- Restart the PMD

- Wait for 1 minute after the PMD starts and then access the acadmin via http://servername:8900/acadmin. In the dropdown, select the volume and try logging in.
I had some fun with 6.2.7, but got it working, also (I am sure you have) check your logs.

Scott,

Thanks.  I'd really would like to shutdown the firewall, but I'm in a pretty strict network environment and don't have such access/authority.  However, I did notice you listed a port that I wasn't aware of (8700) and thus haven't configured it on my server.  I'll have to give it a try and see if it resolves the issue I'm having.  I'll let you know.
