Hi,
Maximo 7.1 for service provider, Websphere 6.1, Database Ibm db2, Ms Windows 2003 sp2
Suppose I saved a new query(Open work orders) and marked it Public under ‘Save Query’ option in work order application. All maximo users can view this query in work order application. My question is, Can I restrict some of the maximo users not to access this public query(Open work orders), How?
Actually, why I am asking this question because I created a new portlet (Work order) by using query(Open work orders) which shows graph and result set. I want other users should see my designed result set/Graph. But when I assigned it to other group users, later on they logined and could not see result set/graph except me who is the owner of this query can see result set/graph. Currently the work order portlet is shown empty at users(whom I assigned this new portlet) start center, that’ s why I marked(in save query option) this query public so that other users could be able to see the results set/graph and currently they are seeing results. There is one problem occurred the non-operational users are also seeing result set/graph which is not good for system protection point of view. I want to put restriction they should not see result set/graph, any idea How to do
it?
Waiting for reply.
Regards
Shah
I would just turn off the rights of the non-operational users in security groups, so they can’t see work orders.

Thanks for giving prompt reply.
Unfortunately I can not turn off non-operational users rights from work order application. They are some how involve in operational activities from back end support and they have to see the work orders but they can not create new one. There is 'drop down image' option above list tab in work order application, after one click all public queries(like all work order, all book marks...) are shown.
I want non-operational users should not see all public queries as listed in work order application except they can only view one public query 'My Work orders'.
How can it be done?
Can I restrict non-operational users to access some/all public queries, How?
Waiting for your reply.

Shah

Hi,
Put the users you want to restrict in a security group and then add a data resritciton in that group for the query object. You'll have to maitain that restriction to list all of the queries they should be able to use.

I don’t think you can prevent users from seeing the Public Queries. However, if you don’t want them to see certain work orders, you could put data restrictions into their Security group … otherwise, I don’t have any ideas that could help.

If you create the query as maxadmin and make the query non public. The KPI can be created using the save query and applied to a start centre portlet. All users that have that start centre should be able to see the KPI graph/result set.
