Hii

From: Jagan Rajan (2012-01-20 06:54)

Hi Everyone,
I have an issue in workorders I am not able to filter any data from workorder description. I know its confusing, I go to advance search and create a query work type 'PM' and status 'WSCH' and hit find to get the data populated, and it will bring in workorders but now if i try to filter it by description of the work order it will not do it. Anyone have any idea...
apreciate your help.
thanks

What exactly do you mean filter by description? What are you typing for example?

Check the filter type for the field. If it is a text search it is looking for full words. Try to do your search using the wild card on each side of your value “%XXXX%’. See if you get a return then. The text search creates a query that looks like ‘% XXXX %’ and will only return complete word matches. If this is an issue for your users you will have to change your search type to wildcard

How long ago was the work order created? We've found that all other fields
are searchable right away, but that description isn't searchable until
about 10-15 minutes after the work order was created.

For reference, there can be issues with the description field in comparison to the syntax you are using to search. There is a page on the IBM support site "User cannot find records when querying the Description field" that you should probably check.
https://www-304.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg21262037
Best of luck,
Chris.

Thanks everyone the problem was identified.
We found that the searching was working in our development system but not production.  We also found that the job procedure didn’t compile in production. It was discovered that the CTX option wasn’t installed.  Once that was done, the searching started working
