I had a business requirement to create assets for each inventory issue. for example We had 100 laptops in inventory and upon issuing a laptop based on a request , maximo should create an Asset for the issues laptop.
Does this functionality exists OOTB Maximo/ if not how can we configure Maximo to achieve above requirement.
You will not be able to issue the item unless you have assets already
defined in the system.

Make them Serialized and Repairable Spares. They will have an asset number in Inventory and it goes with it throughout the entire life cycle.

Or set them up as assets and rotate them into locations. I would use this if you are putting the laptops into class rooms.
Or set themup as inventory serialized and issue to and return them from individuals or work orders.
Those are off the top of my neanderthal like head.
Set it up in your sandbox and try it all out. Of course make sure it meets your customer requirements.
