Hello All, We are in process of defining the standards of Maximo data for our oil and gas business. I would like to reach out you all to gather the best practices which are being followed.
Appreciate if you can share the thoughts on:
1. How to NAME PLATE your asset / equipment? (We have rotating, mechanical, electrical, gen-sets, pipelines, tanks, PSV, vessels, SCADA)
2. What should be part of LOCATION records? (we have Wells, Asset locations, Plants, Offices, Facilities)
Thanks

Hello...
What about if
1. You name all you asset by build from each specification attributes. The code consist of some segments that refer to your type of asset or anything you need to identify them, such as department, owner, etc.
2. All locations you and users need to identify where easly find them. You also could build hierarchies by think and condider your benefits from them and KPI and reporting analysis purposes.
Sorry if this silly thoughts...:p

I have to go soon so
If you have oil & gas add on then if you run the following you will get a industry specific list if specifications these can also be used on the location
Oragnisations (oil) --> Select Action --> oil & gas Options --> Update Asset Specifications
You can specify which attributes build the description if you wish to go that way . the advantages are they are consistant
If the UK we typically break downm our platforms :-
Site
Platform
System
TAG hierarchy (i.e. location) derived from the P&ID
Asset at tag (no hierarchy)
