Conditional expressions in Communication Templates

From: Miranda Anderson (2014-01-23 15:29)

Can we "program" a Comm Template to display variable messages that depend on the value of a Work Order field?
We added a "Follow-up Work Required" field, and want to send different messages depending on whether this is checked or not.

easiest way is to set up a relationship & use the relationship value in the template

I haven't figured out how to accomplish what you're asking (I would be interested to know if this could be done as well!!). One thing that might work for you is to send the work order to a workflow process. From there you could evaluate if the field is checked or not. Then you could send out different messages based on that result.
Thanks!

This should work
create an aln domain WMSFOLLOWUPWRKREQ and add the messages you want based on the values in the field "Follow-up Work Required"
Create a relationship on workorder :
WMSFOLLOWUPWRKREQ <-- note I always use a prefix so I know or whoever comes after me what are customisations
Child object : ALNDOMAIN
Where clause : domainid=' WMSFOLLOWUPWRKREQ ' and value= :your_Follow-up_Work_Required_fieldname
On your template use
: WMSFOLLOWUPWRKREQ.description
Ps you don't have to use an aln domain you could create another table the relationship is the important thing
