RE: [MAXIMO List] Re: Maximo Mobile to Datasplice

We are using DataSplice at 3 sites in Australia and one in Thailand for
Inventory and Work Management. We tried Syclo, without success.
DataSplice licences per machine (PDA, tablet etc) this allows you to buy
the right number of machines for your purpose, and as it can utilise the
security settings in Maximo when the user logs on it will reflect the
level of access that they have, so you don't need costly setup. The
product has been 100% stable for us, support is excellent both from our
service provider and also the company itself. DataSplice also is simple
to configure to meet your business needs.

We have the same issue. More memory than anything. Also validation
around sites, Labor ID's and Person records is very complicated. We had
to do a bunch of Java coding to get around it. Can't speak for
Daatasplice, I have only seen it in demo's.
I think the problem with many of these programs is they must incorporate
everything into their applications to make them marketable. The problem
then becomes, they are doing more work and loading more data than
necessary for the need, thus effecting performance. The only way to
correct, is to customize the application to the point that it is
difficult
to maintain and upgrade. We ran into this with Syclo when we went from
Maximo version 4 to version 6. Very expensive to upgrade..

The response time is very slow and the gun freezes all the time. More
than
one user cannot login to the device the memory will be full it does not
store info to the storage card.
Yes we do know about the license we already have them for Mobile

Why is Maximo Mobile not performing? Our company is thinking about
purchasing and implementing Maximo Mobile. Is the software bad?
