How you're handling surveys?

From: Killeen, Sean J. (2012-09-20 10:42)

Hi all,
We're revising our survey process in Maximo 7.1.1.8. Previously on Maximo 5, we'd had a very strange system where a web app was fed by a data export from a Crystal Report that queried Maximo.
I'm sure that on 7.1.1.8 there's a better way, but wanted to ask the user community what successes and failures they've seen with surveys once work is complete.
Particularly:
* What industry-standard survey questions (or aggregates of survey data) exist? Presumably, we want to know customer satisfaction, etc. but is there a standard way of approaching this?
* Are you performing surveys to your customers with Maximo, and if so, what architecture are you utilizing to perform these surveys?
o It seems that one could put the work orders into a workflow and then send an e-mail to the requestor using a communication template when the work is performed, but there may be a better way than this.
o Is the a case where the service request module has some functionality I don't know about?
Thanks in advance for your help!

I believe that the TSRM (Tivoli Service Request Manager) "version" of Maximo includes survey capabilities.

Hi all,
After talking with Sean, I believe that we have the base/TPAE install of Maximo (and thus not the TSRM addition of surveys).
Given this, has anybody worked a separate solution for themselves? I'm thinking a survey link that goes out in a communication template as part of a workflow when a work order is completed, that directs the user to a site that we build. Does this make sense?
Thanks,
Sean Killeen

Yes that makes sense and is what we do at our site.
We have certain work that send an email via work flow --
and we have others that send the email via an escalation.
Both send and email with information about the work and a link to a site that maintains the questions and answers of the survey -- it only allows the user to take the survey 1x per wonum.
Both ways work good, just depends on your requirements.

At one of the places we support, we put together a google doc - with a form - that we send the requester an email with a link in it along with the work order number and some other info. This is done via escalation.
The link takes them to a google doc form, the data is captured in the doc online.
Your site may have restrictions on how you can use this information, so check into that aspect of it.
