Re: Calculate target start = target finish less alert lead days

From: David Teece (2013-11-25 12:33)

While I am sure someone can come up with a script that could be run in an escalation to do what you what you want to do I feel the need to point out that you are somewhat confused about the purpose of the fields you list.
Assuming you are talking about PM generated work orders, the Target Start Date is just that. The day the system has calculated the work should start based on the settings in your PM record.
The Target Finish Date is calculated based on the Target Start Date plus the Duration.
The Alert Lead Days is used to trigger an alert if a Service Request is put in against the Asset or Location in the PM within the window you set with the Alert Lead Days.
For example, if your asset is Truck101 and it has PM to perform an inspection every 30 days that has an Alert Lead Days of 10. IF that PM was next due to be done on December 1st and someone creates a Service Request on November 25th against Truck101 an alert will come up when they submit the request saying that the PM is due so they know that it may make sense to do the PM at the same time they perform the work called for in the Service Request. The alert comes up because the Service Request is bing created inside the 10 day window.

Hi David, thanks for your response. What I'm trying to do is automatically
change the target start field to comply with the clients need. For example,
their monthly PMs must be performed 14 days before its target finish date.
Because the alert lead days field says that is the amount of days that is
"Acceptable period (in days), prior to the PM due date, during which the PM
may be performed" I chose to use that field. If there target finish for a
monthly PM is 12/20/2103 its target start must be 12/6/2013.

Shirley, what version of Maximo are you using? If it's 7.5 you should be
able to do this easily with an Automation Script.

Further to what David said: I’m confused too. If I read you right, you’re
saying that their PMs must be finished 14 days before the Target Finish
Date? That seems pretty circular … and impossible to do.

If the total time from the Target Start Date to Target Finish Date should be
14 days, then setting the duration on your Job Plan to 14 days should do it.

From: Ian Wright (2013-12-09 12:29)

On the last 2 implementations if done we have removed the Target start dates and only work from Scheduled Start (SS) & Finish (SF) the SS being set to the "Start No Earlier Than date" and the SF to SS + duration with the target finish (TF) date controlling backlog and or the deferral process, the scheduled dates are calculated to provide float of varying amounts between the SF and TF depending on the frequency of the job. This ensures we get early sight of the upcoming work and have the ability to schedule without instantly running into backlog. We do use automation scripts to set the SS & SF however they are very simple
There is a new fields on the jobplan :-
JOBPLAN.STCONOFFSET Start Constraint Offset
The amount of time (in hours) to be subtracted from the Target Start date in order to calculate the "Start No Earlier Than date" of the work record.
Check if its in version 7.1 I'm sorry I don't have a version to hand to check

Hi guys, using the Start Off Set in the Job Plan worked perfectly to obtain the results I was looking for. I only need to customize the report so where the Target Start label is, instead retrieves de Start No Earlier Than. Thanks so much everyone, specially to Ian Wright. Please excuse the delay on answering with feedback.
