Subject: Repairable Spares Question
Has anybody worked out a process / procedure in Maximo 7.5 to charge the repair of a repairable spare to the Asset Location it came from, not to spares inventory? We have a business that wants repairable spares coming out of inventory to be issued at no value and the cost of repairing/replacing the broken item to go against the asset where it came from in the field. In other words, the Asset in the field gets actual cost, not inventory cost.
Also, has anyone work flowed or automated the creation of work orders and equipment moves necessary to complete the repairable cycle?
Any ideas?

The rotating asset gets issued to the work order, Move the asset to be repaired to either a repair or Vendor location, create a sub work order or new work order to have the asset repaired.
Do not flag 'charge to store' on work order
Create a Material or Service PR item on the work order to cover the repair of the asset.
All cost for the repair will now be charged to the WO and thus to the asset if you are updating asset costs.
When the repaired asset is received MOVE it back from the Vendor location to the STOREROOM location.
The asset is now back in stores at NO value and the repair cost is all charged to the WO and asset.
Other than the issue, all other MOVES are manual.
