It might be related to the status of the asset, if it is ASSIGNED for example you need to specify the owner.
Then, what Object Structure are you using? Does it have only the ASSET object in it?

When doing a load of assets through MIF using Maximo 7.1.1.8 and setting the ASSETNUM field to NULL (in order to autogenerate the ASSETNUM), including all required fields on the asset (ASSETNUM, DESCRIPTION, SERIALNUM, FAILURECODE, LOCATION, ASSETTYPE, COMMODITY, COMMODITYGROUP, STATUS, GROUPNAME, STATUSIFACE=0,VENDOR , GLACCOUNT) getting:
BMXAA4195E - Required field Person is blank.
Has anyone else run into this issue?
