Single Maximo with multiple Finance Systems

From: roshan sam (2013-06-27 12:47)

Hi Guys,
I have a client who is looking to integrate a single Maximo Asset
Management installation with multiple FInancial systems. The reason is that
procurement for the client is performed by 3 service providers that perform
the procurement in their own Finance systems.
As I understand, a single Maximo instance can only have a single GL
construct for the entire Maximo installation. Is there any way around it ?
Has anybody come across any such requriements with other clients ?
Cheers,
Roshan.

Hi Roshan,
This is a very interesting scenario for which Maximo is not really setup to handle. What I would recommend is to setup a validated chart of accounts which has as a first component the company by which procurement is being done, followed by the other components. Depending on how different the structures are you can use multiple components for each procurement company or sometimes the same component for all companies (e.g. Account or Project can be your second component as it would be used by all three companies).
The bigger issue might be inventory and this will depend on whether the procurement companies buy to a single stock pot or to separate ones. Can you clarify this?
As for integration with the procurement company's systems, once the data is within Maximo there will always be ways and means to upload it. How difficult or easy this will depend on how different their systems are but the interface will probably have to be bespoke.

Kelly

Thanks Kelly. The procurement can be done by the purchasing company into
their own storerooms or to the storeroom that is the owned by the client. A
purchasing company will not however not perform procurement for another
purchasing company.
Also a work might be initiated by the client, but any procurements that
happen to perform the work might be done by the purchasing company. This
probably adds to the complication ?
Cheers
