Defining location code

Is there a guideline or any methode of defining location code?

Are you asking about how most companies define what items should be listed as a Location? If so, the basic concept we use is anything listed on a P&ID would be listed as a Location and then mirrored with an Asset record. Additional Locations are then used to help group Locations based on areas of the plant to create the Location hierarchy.
