Old JAVA

From: Mark Baldwin (2014-03-06 17:35)

Hello,
I been informed that the our MAXDB server has two very old versions of Java
on it (1.4.2_10 and 1.4.2_18). I have been assured that removing these old
versions will not affect the Operating system or the database server.
However what I do not know is will the performance of the MAXIMO
application be affected.
Any incite or advice would be appreciated
Thanks

Normal practice is to isolate the application servers from the db server
So there should be no effect on the maximo application (websphere, weblogic) if it was set up that way
Just make sure that the db doesn't depend on a particular version of the java virtual machine your dba should be able to tell you
You can checlk if the jvm option was installed but to the best of my knowledge it's not required for maximo i.e. no "Maximo" java code is installed on the db server
Oracle
SELECT comp_id, comp_name FROM dba_registry;
COMP_ID COMP_NAME
--------- --------------------------------------------
EM Oracle Enterprise Manager
CATALOG Oracle Database Catalog Views
CATPROC Oracle Database Packages and Types
JAVAVM JServer JAVA Virtual Machine
CATJAVA Oracle Database Java Packages
Sql server ask the dba
