We are looking to upgrade our current mobile solution and would appreciate input from anyone using a mobile solution with Maximo in a DOD environment. We are on Maximo v7.5 and utilizing SAP Syclo on Motorola hardware.

If you are using Motorola hardware, are you still on Windows Mobile 6 or 7. First thing I can say is that WiFi encryption on some hardware only goes to WEP 40-bit key. That is easily decryptable and considered very weak. I think from the security standpoint, those handhelds are a big security risk and you should go to something more modern.
But this is gov't we're talking here... who knows if that can actually happen.
Amtrak built custom mobile apps. I'm not sure what kind of realistic risk you might assess, but maintenance data usually isn't very risky. Custom is probably the best fit solution, but it's pricey and hard to do. I do like Interloc's solutions, so those are definitely worth a peek if you are looking for options.

Do you need equipment alerts on the mobile so that corrective maintenance WO can be created right from the mobile along with regular mobile functionality ?
Yes, in an ideal world we would be able to create both service requests and work orders.
