Mx7 Application desginer performance

From: Hanna, Christopher CTR (2011-07-12 12:09)

The application designer in our Mx7 development environment is painfully slow. The rest of the application seems to perform just fine. Has anyone else experienced similar issue. I swear I remember reading something about this on this forum but I couldn't find anything.
Thanks!

Our problem with the PAINFULLY SLOW application designer was McAfee script scanning. See the thread below for other problems this has caused. We had the Maximo url excluded from scanning and this made a significant difference.

I don't know if you're using IE, but when I use IE, it is also extremely slow. Try using Firefox or Safari (or another browser). I was amazed at the performance difference.

So Richard, do you have McAfee at your location? McAfee only works with IE
and that would explain the speed difference.

Clarification: McAfee Script Scanning only works on IE.

Yeah, I hate IE after using Chrome. However we are a government facility and changing browsers is not an option.
Can anyone tell me where you go in McAffee to exclude the URL? We found a place to exclude a process, but it doesn't take URLs.
Thanks!

We're a life science company and while I can't get the whole company to
switch to Firefox, they do allow me as a Maximo administrator to use Firefox
just for Maximo. I use IE for everything else. Your question was about the
Application Designer so I don't imagine you have too many people using that
application.
Try this google search... mcafee whitelist url script scanning
If I remember correctly, McAfee 8.7 has the ability to whitelist but you
have to create a registry entry. It's not until 8.8 that the admin console
gives you a place to exclude a url.

Yes, we do use McAfee. It's good to know what the culprit is.
