To all who have replied, yes I want to show the image without having to click on attached documents. I want the image to be displayed on the inventory and/or item master main screen. This way the end users can toggling through the records and see a picture of the items they are searching for.

Not possible before version 7.x, without the help of Java customization or maybe a third-party add-on product. I had wanted to do the same thing on 6.x. 5.x can only do attachments; 6.x started image support but it seems it only supported a static image. . .like maybe if you wanted to have your company's logo appear on the screen at all times -- it couldn't vary by individual record.
