We have the same setup with Maximo 6.2.3 and WS 6 using AD for LDAP. The WS authentication is BASIC, which prompts the user for credentials, so we run Maximo over HTTPS. I looked into this before and found that you would need to setup JCIFS for NTLM authentication. We never tried it, but if you search this group for "JCIFS" you should find more posts about it.
