I am supporting a maximo 4.0.3 instance, we are interested in moving this to Oracle 9.2 and need to know if we can expect any issues. I've tried searching the IBM site, but haven't found the information I'm looking for . . . anyone here using maximo 4.0.3 on an oracle 9.2 database? anyone remember doing such a thing?
I suspect it will work fine, just don't want to spend the time testing if there are known issues . . .

Hi,
I guess all of the Oracle users are on vacation?
In the 4 versions of Maximo the database versions seemed to make quite a difference. They had a lot of code written that did not always work in a newer version of the database.
I don't use Oracle but if that version you want to use was not supported in 4.0.3 you'll be taking a big leap of faith that Maximo will always work with it. For instance I think 4.1.1 was only up to SQL 7 and would not work with later versions. Or maybe you had to install patches to make it work with later versions.
You should look at upgrading to 7.5. You'll probably need some outside help to import the data from 4.0.3 to 7.5. We were on 4.1.1 and imported to 7.1.1.6.

Thanks for the reply Dave,
Yes, we will be moving to a later version of Maximo, but it will not be done
quickly . . . I did find a supported matrix in the files of the group, It
does not specify 4.0.3 . . . but shows oracle 9 supported in 4.1.1 patch 7.
I have had other responses that indicate it maybe possible . . . so I need
to do an analysis to see if it is worth the time to work on the 4.0.3
database move to oracle 9, or stay focused on the later implementation . . .
Appreciate the input,
John

I had a client with 4.03 and the dba upgraded the database to Oracle 9. I just talked with her and she said does not know of any issues, but they have since upgraded both the database and Maximo. Oracle is very backwards compatible.

Pat,
Thank you, we are going ahead with setting up a development environment and
testing out moving our 4.0.3 to oracle 9, and a few other updates to see if
it works. We will eventually move our data to a 7.x environment, but that
will take some time.
I suspect if I can get the database to connect, the rest will work easily.
