Subject: Schedule Compliance
Compliance measurements are important. They may be dependent on the type of schedule. In a planned outage/shutdown schedule updates may be by the day/shift. The outage manager however is primarily focused on critical path, schedule bottlenecks, and job safety. For on-line maintenance, most SMEs say one week out is the ideal amount of time to forecast work to optimize dept/craft coordination, perform matl staging, and permitting. You can make a 4-week look-ahead but compliance is only done on the week just completed. First line supervision needs mgmt to tell them what the priorities are for the week but they would prefer to manage the people assignments the evening before (or that same morning). Note: reactive maintenance bypasses the weekly schedule process.
It all starts with the weekly schedule, which for most, is quite a challenge.
