Hi,
Maximo 7.1.1.5, SQL Server 2005, Websphere 6.1.0.19
I have some, but not all users, who are experiencing very long delays when trying to run reports. The parameter entry screen can take over 5 minutes to display, and sometimes does not appear, instead they get a time-out message. This is consistent for the same users. This is true from all applications, and when running BIRT, Actuate or Custom (SSRS) reports. I have tried adding indexes to the various reportxxxx tables in Maximo, but this has not improved the performance. Any ideas what is causing this, and how to improve the performance ? Other users are getting virtually instant parameter entry screens.
Optimize your queries of the reports. Also, create more indexes on the tables on which the queries are being fired. Give more parameters for the where clause which may be required or may be used to get the results more accurate.

Can you paste the query for the report which is taking 5 mins? also send the parameter names which are being used to get the where clause.

Thanks for the reply.
It is not the Output Page, (report display), which is showing the delay - it is for the request page / parameter entry screen. The report queries have been optimised, and mostly run within a few seconds of entering the parameters & pressing the submit key.

Some things to help find the cause:
-set reporting log level to debug, have user run the report, review error logs
-clear browser cache
-try a different browser
-re-import reports and generate request pages
-have user log on from a computer known to work for others
-have a user without issues log on through a computer having issues
-restart the application server
-create a new, temporary username for user and see if they have issues
These should you help find or fix whatever is causing the problems.

Have you thought about it being the settings for your Virus Protection software? We encountered numerous issues with the script scanning feature of Mcafee slowing the presentation of Maximo pages running under IE8. See posting #54118 for more information on this issue.

Hi,
Also remove any toolbars added to IE. We found that a lot of toolbars have a pop up blocker in them that causes a lot of issues with Maximo.

Hi, Thanks for the suggestions.
We are currently running IE 7, but will be moving to 9 or Firefox when we upgrade our desk-tops to Windows 7. Our policy does not allow the installation of tool-bars, and they are blocked from installation by the registry settings. We are running Trend anti-virus, and this is the same on all PC's. This problem is definitely related to the Maximo User ID, as I can reproduce this effect on both the Live & Dev systems, (the data in Dev was refreshed about a month ago from live), from any PC and from any Windows log-in.
We have IE set to delete all Temporary Files & Cookies when the browser is closed, and have java set to not cache locally.
I have completely deleted the User account, and re-created it which made no difference.
I am currently running a Maximo 6 installation for 1 contract, and this Maximo 7 for another. We are in the process of migrating our Maximo 6 system to 7.1.15, and will be merging the 2 systems. I am concerned that this issue will then start to affect many more of our users.
What I need to know is what is Maximo doing between the user requesting a report to be run, and the request / parameter page displaying. This is where the delay is occurring, not after the submit button is clicked on the request / parameter page. It is obviously querying the database for something, as we sometimes get a time-out message.
