How do I select the PR that has Items I want bought when entering Material Plans on a WO?
PR is always Grey no matter what I do with either Material Type transactions or Item Type Transactions, Direct Issue or not. The field never become editable.
How do I ever get the PR and PR Line to populate on the Plans..Materials Tab? Or get it to allow me to select a PR????
Thanks,
Miller
Hi Miller,
The PR and PR Line fields get populated when you create the PR for your direct issue items. Once you approve your Work Order with the planned materials in it, you can run auto-reorder, and if you have set it up to create a PR for direct issue items, it will auto populate those fields with the PR and PR Line number. Or else you can create the PR manually and have as reference in your PR the work order.
I may have missed some things and others can add to this. regards

That’s essentially it – the idea is: add your items to the Plan tab, approve the work order, and then go into the Inventory module / Select Action / Reorder / Reorder Direct Issue Items/Srvcs (or Stores/Purchasing can run it when they run the stock reorder).
What happens is: the reorder process goes through all of the approved work orders for items that haven’t been put on a PR, creates the PRs (one PR per vendor), then updates the PR and PR Line # fields on the Plan tab. The PRs are then presumably processed by Purchasing as normal. Note that depending on your organization setup, the process could actually create POs as well, AND if you have a workflow process for PR/PO approvals, you can set workflow to automatically start when the PRs are created.
You can also set up Reorder to run automatically at specified intervals, but I’ve never tried to order direct issue items on an automatic reorder, so I don’t know if they’re included or not.
The other thing that happens is that the work order’s status changes to WMATL, and when the last item on the Plan tab is received (i.e. the receipt is entered into the Receipts application), the work order’s status automatically changes back to APPR so it can be scheduled.
I personally think this is a neat functionality that a lot of people don’t know about or don’t use, which is a pity …

Does it have to be done through Auto Reorder..
As I created a WO Saved as WAPPR, then changed the status to WMATL. Then Created a PR that references the WO on the PR Line and had it flagged as "Issue on Receipt" (aka Direct Issue). I approved that PR and converted it to a PO. I then Recieved that material. Again, this PR referenced my WO. After materials have been recieved I see nothing in the Plans Tab of the WO refering to the PR..
What am I doing wrong?
I am wondering if this is a bug in the version I am using 6.2.2?
Thanks for help,
Miller

Folks,
Thanks a bunch I do now see it working and in fact properly changes the status of the WO to accomodate the PR.
Love it.. Plan to show it to users later today as it fits ideally with the "Just in Time" storeroom model they are trying to start pushing so as to not be a Wal-Mart of Storeroom items.

We run Direct Issue reorder as a separate cron. We also auto start workflow at the PR level and then auto-create POs when the PR is approved. We created a custom workflow action to have the PO creation happen in workflow.

Cool! So a direct issue reorder can be done on a cron. Good to know!
