Hi,
I am trying to connect Birt reports to an external data source.
For that in Report Administration...Select Action...Configure Data Sources, I entered the correct values. when clicked on Test Connection..got success message. Now my reports still running on default database(database which is connected to Maximo). But I want my Birt reports should be connected to the new database which I configured as above. How to point BIRT reports to this external data source?
Please help.
Thanks...Siva
If you add a datasource to a BIRT report, you will also need to change the
dataset(s) to point to that new datasource, as each dataset can point to any
of the datasource's declared in the report's data explorer tab. You can
change that setting by editing the dataset(s) and clicking on the Data
Source property, then selecting the correct datasource.
If the tables and field names are not the same, you will also need to update
your query with correct table and field names.

Siva,
You will still have to make the change to the report design.you cannot do it
in Report Administration.
You have to open the report design in the BIRT report developer and make
your datasource modifications there, then test it and then import it into
BIRT.

Hi,
You do not need to as BIRT uses the same data source as defined in maximo.properties. Any thing other than that you need to configure the xml files if you are deploying birt on a separate cluster.
Thanks,
Kumar
