Re: [MAXIMO List] How to run BIRT report out of Maximo

From: al_potanin (2011-10-11 23:33)

Hi Lonnie,
Thanks for a link.
Unfortunately it doesn't answer my question. Maybe I wasn't clear :(
I'd like to know if I can use Maximo BIRT engine to run a report OUTSIDE of Maximo. I don't want to setup another BIRT engine.
Hope there is a solution.
Regards,
Alexey

You can install the free BIRT Report Viewer (download from
www.eclipse.org/birt) for the version of BIRT you are running (BIRT 2.3.2
with Maximo 7.1), then you can create BIRT reports in the Report Designer
that do not use the Maximo libraries, and point them to use the Oracle or MS
SQL Server database that holds your Maximo information. Then simply publish
the completed reports to the web folder under the Application Server (Like
Apache Tomcat) where you have installed the BIRT Report Viewer and give the
users that URL to open the report. You can create a web page with report
links on it, if you wish, or can get as fancy in your Web presentation as
you desire.
