Subject: Sure-fire way to improve EAM system accuracy
Step (1): Introduce a Review Team for all new work, and
Step (2): Implement CM/PM work order feedback
The Review Team (consisting of Ops, Maint, Engr) would be looking at all new Service Requests. Note: Direct WO access would be turned off. Only the SR Review Team (SRRT) would be able to convert to WO. The SRRT would also review for record completeness (and correct themselves or send it back); categorize this SR as a Corrective Action (CA) ; categorize as a Tech Eval (TE); convert directly to work order; or Cancel. The CA and TE require further information before work can be planned/scheduled and executed. This process and Review Team also helps keep the maintenance backlog clean of non-work actions; promotes accurate data (e.g. asset #, worktype, priority, failure/problem code); and enhances planning/scheduling.
The CM/PM feedback loop would help create actionable data which is automatically routed to manager start centers identifying problems, trends, as well as requests for review in support of reliability centered maintenance.
