Multiple Windows in Maximo 7.5

From: mutss1 (2011-10-25 12:08)

We have upgraded and I have a question if you are familiar with it. With 7.1 I could open up multiple sessions of Maximo e.g. have 3 or 4 windows of Maximo open. This made entering data much easier as I did not have to change screens as much. In the new version it seems I can only open 1 window. Any idea on how I can open multiple windows with 7.5? I'm using IE 8.

QuestionDoes Maximo work with IE 8 multi browser tabbing feature?
.AnswerMaximo 6.2.5 introduces the support for Internet Explorer (IE) 8 and contains a built in functionality that allows Maximo to work well with multi tabbing in IE8.
It is supported from 6.2.5 onwards.
(Note: IE7 was not supported for multi tabbing up to Maximo version 6.2.2; however, a fix was provided for tabbing that involved settings to be activated in the webclient.properties file.)
There are various ways how to open a new tab in IE8 when using multitabbing as follows:
1) Select "New Tab" from the File menu
2) Shortcut command Control-T.
3) Open the IE 8 with the option nomerge e.g. "iexplore.exe -nomerge".
A new IE 8 will be opened and you can log into a NEW session.
Opening a new tab ensures that the sessions in the different browsers are distinct from each other.

Hi,
This may just be an IE8 session issue, not a 7.5 issue?
Does this help? (Try File > New Session)
More details:
"For Internet Explorer 8, we've made browser session handling a lot simpler. For instance, say you want to have two Hotmail windows open, each logged into a different account. Simply click the New Session item on the File menu, and a new browser window will open. The new browser window will not share session cookies with the original browser window, so you can log into Hotmail (and most web applications) as a different user. For command line junkies, you can run iexplore.exe with the -nomerge parameter."
It came from this url:

Ed

This probably isn't much of a solution, but I cheat and use two different browsers. Have one session open in firefox and another open in IE.

Also confirm that the system property setting webclient.multibrowsersupport is set to true.
