Does anyone know how to change the permissions to enable users to add long descriptions to assets? I created a clone of the ASSETS application and in the close, when we try to enter comments in the Long Description field, they don't save.
All the security settings appear to be the same from the ASSETS app to the new cloned app... Is there a SIGNATURE OPTION setting or something else that I might need to do to get this to work?
I can typein the Long Description window. Click OK. Save the record. But when I reopen the record, the comments are not there...

I also would be interested if anyone knows what this problem mightbe.
I suspect it is not permissions, as i have the same problem
But in the Companies app.
The long description on company name will not save.
If you enter the same description twice it sometimes does save ,but a bit hit and miss.
All other long descriptions in all the other apps save fine.
I was begining to think that the dirty flag( the flag set when apps thinks something has changed) is getting messed up somehow.

There aren't any separate permissions for editing long description. Have you checked the server logs for any errors?
My initial thought is perhaps you're getting a database error that isn't propagating back out to the front end, like a duplicate key, or some other type of database related error.

For information, we figured out our issue... We also use Rules Manager in conjunction with Maximo and we had a rule in place that was causing this issue... Just wanted to provide closure on this issue for other parties.
