Tip of the Day #207

From: John (2011-11-11 00:16)

Why does a Planner have to create a work plan (job steps) when the trades should know what to do?
Note: sometimes this job title is loosely assigned in the industry and management has varying definitions of roles & actions
If a Planner/Scheduler takes the above position he is essentially saying:
»» Workers do not take work order prints into the field anyway; thus they never refer to this document to perform work
»» Workers should remember any feedback (to enter) until end of shift
»» No readings are necessary or being recorded
»» There are no complex jobs requiring this detailing
»» There will be no new workers ever assigned to this job
»» Trades will always remember personnel and equipment safety steps
»» Magnitude of job should be obvious to anyone in maintenance department
»» Litigation should never occur
