Limiting WO Statuses in 6.2 (cal)

From: cjstringer (2011-12-06 14:16)

I have a customer that wants to limit the WO statuses available to each group from within the WO(cal) application. (i.e. Techs get WO in APPR and can move to INPRG, WMATL, COMP only) I know how to do this easily in 7, but in 6, as I understand it, this requires class file modifications. I have not ever had to do this to date, and I have a dev system to test in, but I don't even know where to start.
Does anyone have any pointers? I'm at a loss currently and being pressed to get this done yesterday. (Aren't we all?)
Thanks in advance!

If I understand you correctly, you should be able to do that using standard
security privileges, i.e. turn off the all of the status privileges for the
Techs other than INPRG, WMATL and COMP. Or you could also use workflow.

In 6.2 you can limit it via workflow? I guess I didn't know that. How is this done?
my core experience is in 4 and 7, and not much in between.
Thanks in advance!
