Maximo 6.2.2 Auto Print a report?

From: jackie20062003 (2011-12-06 14:56)

We have a request and I'm not sure it's even possible, but wanted to double check with others.
Users have requested that once a Desktop Requisition (DTR) is created that the DTR report *automatically* print to the printer stationed in the storeroom...without the user having to do ANYTHING (other than create the record).
We're trying to get them away from using paper copies, but it's a fight that we seem to be losing (plus we are having issues with some crons that are responsible for making reservations, so that's not helping our case) so, we are entertaining the idea.
Does anyone know if this is even possible in Actuate (by the way, we are NOT using BIRT)? Again, I don't think it is, and I wouldn't even imagine how we would be able to get ALL the printer's from all the storerooms, but one step at a time :)
I'm thinking, thus far, it would be better for us to schedule an Actuate report to run that would capture all DTRs created within the last 24 hours and then email that report to the storeroom people...who would then print the report themselves. But other suggestions would be nice... :)

I believe this is possible by logging into your Actuate Management console and going to the latest version of the report you wish to have executed.  Select New Background Job and using the various tabs you can set how often to execute the report, whom to email it to or which printer to use.  There are tabs for Schedule, Parameters, Output, Privileges, Channels, Notification, and Print.

I've never used this option so not sure how it performs but you can set it to execute the report like once an hour between say 6AM to 6PM on each day of the week (Mon - Fri) by using the Advanced radio option on the Schedule tab.

Ron,
is correct, I setup auto printing using the scheduling options provide by Actuate. We auto printed workorders to various shops over a campus based on trade.
You install the printers on the server and actuate should recognize them, you can also manually add them via XML or the Actuate console.
The scheduling console will also let you add to the exisiting where clause which permitted us to selectively print etc.

You can also send reports as attachments via email on a schedule, but you'd need to setup SMTP which again done from the Actuate admin console.

(Always hard to get them away from paper)

Thank you both so much for that information, it was quite helpful. I'll run this information back to our Actuate Admins.
Curious, have either of you seen issues with performance with the auto print of Actuate reports?
