help with Actuate report

From: Travis Herron (2011-12-06 23:21)

Maximo 6.2.6, weblogic, sql server
I'm trying to build an Item Details report. . .kinda like the Work Order Details report in that it pretty much has all the information from all the tabs in the Item Master application.
I built the report in erdPro and ran it against a particular item and it works correctly. I've registered the report in Maximo:
--published my design to the Encyclopedia
--gave permissions to the report
--made an entry for it in Report Administration
--recreated all XMLs
And every time I run it, even against the same item I tested it on in erdPro, I get the same error:
There is nothing to display in this report.
I'm sure it's something simple and obvious. . .anyone know what I'm doing wrong? It's been a long time since I built a report from scratch (well, from their templates).

Travis,

It could be a case-sensitive issue.  Typically, Actuate is very strict in how it searches for an item provided via a prompt page.  Ensure the character string your entering is the same as what's shown in Maximo.  If your not prompting for this value but trying to print your report once the item is displayed on maximo application screen then its probably an issue with some parameter value that needs to be set via ERDpro that your missing.

Just a guess on my part, I too struggle with using Actuate and ERDPro to develop reports and queries.

I doubt (in this case) that it is a case issue. . .I'm testing against a numeric value.
I should also add that, like the Work Order Details report, I intend for this to be a Current/Selected/All style report; so no parameters on the Request Page. I want it to pull the then-current where clause from Item Master.

Travis, you have added the 1=1 to your sql clause?

Yep, in the main query and in all subreports. 1=1 is the first thing after the word "where" in all of them.

Well maybe the following will shed some light.

override the datastream method ObtainSelectStatement

below line Open "C:\Temp\MySqlStatement.txt" For Output As #2
Print #2, "Sql Statement" & ObtainSelectStatement
Close #2
See what your report is using for the query, I bet it is a palm to forehead moment.

Hi Travis,
What did you do to get it to return a result set in erdPro?
If you used a parameter and set that to an item number, did you remember to remove the parameter from the query before publishing?
Also make sure any commented-out lines are at the end of the query or remove these all together.
Another test you can do is code in an itemnum in the where clause, remove the 1=1, publish and run in Maximo and see if a row is returned or printed.
Cheers
KIM
