We are about to use stocked tools, has anyone done any work on performing PMs on stocked tools, we have an audit requirement to ensure calibrations of test equipment are perfomed regulary and the items are certified, so our thought is to trigger a PM based work order. If anyone has done work in this area I would greatly appreciate it if you could share your experience with me.

We don't use stocked tools but we do have to calibrate test equipment.
We created test equipment assets just like any other asset. Then we have PMs generated for the calibration work.
All of the calibrated test equipment is in two locations QA and Maintenance. They just thappen to be the only two places we use calibrated test equipment.
We also calibrate prodcution instruments like temperature and pressure transmitters. These have calibration PMs and are in many different locations.
Stocked tools is really meant for items that you want to issue out so you can make reservations and track where they are. But you can use it for anything.
