Scheduled BIRT Report - Comment Field Issue

From: john_gould14 (2012-02-16 12:53)

Have a strange one for the group -
I've created a series of scheduled reports through the QBR in Maximo 7.5 and an issue I am running into is that when I add text to the comments field and have line spaces between the body, salutation and closing, it is just parsing them all together in one line when the email is recieved -
More simply, it is not observiing the line breaks that I am putting into the scheduled report comment field and when the report is delivered, it is just one long line (very unprofessional looking).
I have tried this directly from the run reports funcation as well as through report administration. I've also tried copying and pasting from a word document as well as directly editing in the comments field.
Any thoughts or is this just a 'bug'.

I've had many of the same issues in printing from long description fields in Maximo 7.5, which are supposed to be using rich text formatting. I think some of this is supposed to be corrected in a release later this year.
My work-around is going into the view html source icon in the long description toolbar (3rd icon from the right - looks like <>)and adding <p> in front of each section of text you want on a separate line and </p> at the end of each. If you want to add additional blank lines, add <br /> in the html source after each section where you want to add a blank line. Don't press OK from that window - press the view html source icon again to get back to the regular long description window and press OK from there. This will force each section to a separate line.
I just tried something similar in a QBR and it worked the same way. Try this in your comments box:
<p>A bunch of text that you want in the first section. </p>
<p>Best regards,</p>
<p>Your signature line</p>
Without the codes, I got the same thing as you describe - all the lines ran together. When I added the <p> and </p> in the appropriate places, it looks like what you want.
Hope this helps.
