Importing Job Plans

From: George (2012-05-11 14:37)

Hello everyone,
I wondering if any one here has experience with importing job plans in to work orders?
We use a separate application (E-TaskMaker) to create our job plans and they want me to put these plans in the work order Plans->Task for work order.
Any input on how I can achieve this will be greatly appreciated.
Maximo 6.2.1
Weblogic
SQL 2005
thx,
mrggutz

You can either import them as job plans using the MEA then assign the JP to the WO or, if you don't want to create job plans you could transform your data in to tasks and import directly to the WO, mimicking the JP functionality without actually creating a JP.

Now how do you import them directly? I'm still learning over here sry.

In essence a Job Plan matches up to a work order as it is a template from
which a WO can be created. As such the tables map, JOBPLAN to WORKORDER,
JOBTASK to tasks (also WORKORDERs), JPMATERIAL to WPMATERIAl etc. As such
you could argue that you don't *need* job plans, they just provide
templates from which you can more quickly create work orders for standard
tasks (and more reliably).
With that in mind if you were going to create job plans from the data in
your other system you'd do a mapping to the appropriate JP tables, if you
choose to keep you maintenance of job plans in that system rather than
Maximo then you could map directly to work orders (and tasks, material,
labor, tools, services etc) instead if you felt it was a better solution
for you.
My guess is you'd be better to map to the job plan tables and, if the
external system is your primary place to maintain them then disable access
to the Job Plan app in Maximo so you don't get them updated in two places.
