Some have asked if there is a way around the conversion of job steps to Work Order Tasks. This meant they did not want to create a permanent Task work order record for each job step from a job plan.
The older version of MAXIMO used to have a small table called JOBOPERATION which contained all of the steps and crossed over to WPOPERATION. In 7X this design is JOBTASK to WORKORDER (task records).
If someone was really intent on doing something different ... they could consider the following design:
1) Add a new field to WOTRACK application/database called JPREFERENCE
2) Link domain to Jobplan table
3) Modify your WOPRINT report to display any "job steps" from the JPNUM specified in JPREFERENCE field using a join.
4) Note: in the case of PM records, you would not fill in the JPNUM field. But instead, you would populate PM.JPREFERENCE (which would need to crossover).
Use-Scenario:
When Planner is planning the job, he would search Job Plan application for best template. Once template found he would update the Work Order to enter this JPNUM in the JPREFERENCE field.
If he needed additional instructions he could either add some work order task steps manually – or – enter additional instructions in work order Long Description.
He would then run WOPRINT to show all of above. Report would first look to see if JPREFERENCE field was populated and extract data as required.
