We are looking at starting to use rotating assets for motors as a way to dip our toes into rotating asset management. I'm curious if anyone who has implemented rotating assets, after using Maximo for some time, could share some hindsight items.
My main concern right now is motor change outs not getting documented in Maximo - e.g. maintenance issues rotating asset motor to location due to change out and old/existing motor is not electronically pulled and now Maximo sees 2 motors are sitting in the field.
If you are using classifications, make sure you have the Rotating Item record using the Same classification as is existing on the Asset. Once you have an asset with a Rotating Item attached to it, you can't set the classification on the Asset as it is derived from the Item. Make sure it's set up on the Item *before* attaching it to the asset, otherwise it will wipe out your asset spec. You don't have to set the spec values on the item record, those happen on the asset.
