Re: Auto Seed of Job Plans

From: somayina (2012-07-24 13:48)

Hello All,
My company is planning to apply auto seed to our job plan numbers, but the numbers will be prefixed differently depending on whether the job plan is a global one or specific to either an organization or site.
So for example if a job plan plan is common to all regions (i.e. global) then prefix with A. Otherwise prefix with B.
Is this possible? i.e. to main two levels of auto seed for one application....any ideas will be greatly welcomed.
Thanks in advance for your help
Regards
Somayina

Hi Somayina,
Based on what you are asking for, I think it makes more sense to keep the autoseed, the auto seed, and use a field to track type. It will give you more flexibility.
You really can go lots of directions here.
I think you need to start with why did you want to tag it as global in the first place... and what other information might be useful. Right now you are just talking global, or not.
But you may want to know the originating region or site. This way you can query for all global and my region only. etc.
As for what you are trying to do with autoseed, what version of Maximo are you using?

Hello Steve,
Thanks for your reply.
I'm yet to clarify the reason for prefixing the job plans with either a global or organisational.
But if still decide

Hi Steve,
Thanks for the reply.
I will clarify with the business the reason for prefixing the job plans with either a global or regional ID.
But in principle , is it possible to accommodate auto numbering for both the global and regional job plans?

Somayina
