Inventory Condition Codes in 6.2

From: maureen.holland (2012-10-24 21:02)

Getting ready to implement Inventory Condition Codes in 6.2. Does anyone have any information?

From: Ian Wright (2012-10-25 07:44)

Do you realise they are only supposed to work for rotating items.
In 7.1 there is a back door which allows you to create stock at a different condition when returning inventory, even if it's not rotating
They have closed that door in 7.5 although I did see that the old apps are still available

No, so that's why it didn't work, LOL. But to verify, will still be available for rotating items in 7.5? Any downside to setting up items as rotating? Do I need rotating asset too?

Rotating items are still in 7.5 - the downside is you normally set up rotating items to allow tracability of a part / asset by its unique code i.e. serial number so there is an overhead if you want to issue three items
Its 3 different transactions.
It doesn't work well in my industry i.e. oil & gas as we would like to track drilling pipe (1000's of lengths) by condition code but we are not really interested in a serial number
I don't know if you need rotating assets :) they are very good for some things and in 7 they work very well as long as your not trying to track thousands of items as assets

Further to that: the tricky part is getting the finance side of it set up.
IBM does have some documentation on this - it would be a GOOD idea to make
sure you're familiar with those before trying this, because it can get
complicated to fix if it's not done right.
