Re: Greetings Everyone.... An Introduction

From: kermitlong (2013-01-14 10:40)

Glen ,
I left General Motors a few years back -
They were stuck in 4.1.1
I since have settled into a small manufacturing Plant.
We moved from Maximo 5 to 6 to 7.1
Can not make it to 7.5 due to server restrants but...
..big change to going up is web based application..
- I am a Maximo Administrator with roots back into maintenance..
- I never really liked the idea of pulling reports from maximo
- and BIRT reporting is provided in maximo 7.1
If you want to talk - email me.

I've done some SQL query work and believe as soon as I can get a password (read only access) I'll be able to make things a lot easier on the techs and management. (Is there a generic password?)

It's true that 4.1.1 is a solid version. I have 2 different clients that
are still on it, although 1 is moving to 7.5 at the end of the month.

I will say that the risk is that you're flying without a net, i.e. IBM will
not support it, so you don't have the option of phoning them up when you
have a problem. In addition, outside this group, and the SQR site that Wes
mentioned, there's probably not a lot of places you can go for help if you
need.

However: there are still a bunch of people in this group that still
remember it even if they don't work with it any more, so if you need
something, feel free to post. And don't forget to search the previous posts
& files in this group - they go back to 1999, so you can potentially find a
lot of information here.
