Tip of the Day #272

From: John (2013-02-17 17:30)

Have you ever heard the saying….
"We just assumed the vendor had it all figured out. If we install the software, then by default, we will be implementing better/best practices".
...I'm sorry to say but this is not true.
Or how about this….
"We enter failure codes (on work orders), so therefore we are analyzing failures".
...not exactly.
Proper utilization of the system begins with the middle level managers ( - meaning the staff who administers MAXIMO).
They have to somehow influence the decision makers and budget holders to move in a certain direction.
Plus, they also have have to convince working level to participate in the system in terms of work order creation, actuals and feedback.
Hey, …. we never said your job was easy.

Good points John, unfortunately I talk to blank walls in both the upper and lower levels of management and workforce. I've shown how we could improve in about five different areas but alas no buy in. Now the Army is pushing us to use their 'piece of &$(#' software that will put us back to the stone age. Frustrating.

I can understand the frustration of blank walls. Sometimes those only get knocked down through attrition.
I'm assuming the POS is IFS? I'm surprised they are still using that, I worked in that back in '97/'98!
