Re-Implementation Advice

From: e11271b (2013-03-21 21:30)

We are about to begin a re-implementing project to move from 4.11 to 7.5.
I'm looking for some advice for how others have done this. We are not worried about transitional data, only the static information. Basically starting over with 7.5, but would like to port over the base data like equipment for example.
Has anyone exported 4.11 data, and then used the MIF to import into 7.5? Or does anyone have recommendations for contract services?
Any help or advice would be appreciated.
Thank You.

Also available in Maximo 7.5 is application import. That is what we used when we re-implemented on 7.5. We setup a new location hierarchy as part of the effort. The process was:
-get formatted spread sheet with a sample data via application export from 7.5
-Using SQL Management Studio get the old data, copy and paste as appropriate into spreadsheet.
-Import Spreadsheet via application import
-If errors occurred correct and try again.
If you are not redoing a hierarchy and simply brining base data across, Contract Service may be best route.

If you have one site and you want to keep the transactional data, then you
can upgrade through the IBM tools. It's painfull but very doable.
If you have more then ONE site to do, may be you should look for other
solutions that will take your max411 to 75 directly.
If you go with Import Export, then When you export the data from Max411,
you need to put it in a format that 75 will understand.
Any Maximo Service provider company can do what you are asking....this is
very basic !
