websphere 6 to 7 - emails not working

From: kermitlong (2013-04-09 13:13)

I just moved from websphere 6 to 7 and my emails are not working. Still on maximo 7.1.1.7 - so database was not changed. Setting must be wrong in websphere?

From: Chris Lawless (2013-04-09 08:17)

Do you mean sending emails from Maximo, comm templates etc? If so I don't see how a WAS upgrade could affect it, it's all SMTP. The logs for mail sending are pretty good, did the IP address of your server change such that the SMTP server will no longer allow relaying? Are you using trusted SMTP access or authenticated SMTP?
If you google how to test SMTP from a command line telnet session you can verify if it allows access.
Chris.

For access to the Maximo app? Shouldn't matter...

When you moved from 6 to 7, did you uninstall 6 and load 7 or did you move to a whole new server?

Maximo’s email code is in the MXServer.class file and doesn’t use WebSphere at all to send emails. Check your logs to see what you’re getting when Maximo tries to send and if you can paste some of it here so we can see what’s happening on the send if you would?

It was a mess of an install on my part.
Installed 7 on same box as 6 - never really uninstalled 6 ( but it is disabled)
